How CAA Manitoba supports local to strengthen our communities
The past year has shown the critical importance of supporting community-based businesses and organizations. Local businesses are often the heartbeat of Manitoba communities. As a care-driven company, CAA Manitoba recognizes the value of investing in local businesses, organizations and restaurants. It’s vital that we work to secure the futures of these resilient local businesses to help them survive for future generations.
From buying a locally sourced product to ordering a delicious meal from a neighbourhood eatery, I encourage everyone to support local. Even something as simple as liking, commenting or sharing on social media helps. Why not check out a local business or restaurant you’ve never visited before? Encourage friends and family to purchase e-gift cards or shop at nearby establishments to support our neighbours and give back.
CAA Manitoba carries some amazing local products in our four retail locations. Raber Gloves produces the famous “garbage mitts” that keep our hands warm all winter long; Mysa Candles is a Manitoba-based, brother-and-sister company specializing in scented candles with wooden wicks; and, most recently, we introduced Utoffeea, a local maker producing delicious candy. CAA Manitoba continues to seek out other local businesses we can showcase in our retail stores. Please watch for new product announcements as we expand our local lines.
Another way to support local is with a staycation. There are so many beautiful tourist destinations across the province—some of which we showcase in this issue. Take advantage of CAA Member discounts at museums, hotels, attractions and more. For golfers, the Canada Golf Card offers savings on green fees (and more) at over 40 courses in Manitoba.
Your CAA Membership unlocks thousands of discounts on everyday purchases and events as well. We’ve developed strong relationships with local arts and sports organizations, including the Manitoba Opera, Manitoba Theatre for Young People, Royal Winnipeg Ballet, True North and Winnipeg Goldeyes, among others. These organizations employ hundreds of Manitobans, and we are proud to support them. We also remain committed to our ongoing relationships with Manitoba Public Insurance and the Winnipeg Police, both of whom support our School Safety Patrollers program. CAA’s School Safety Patrollers are the local entrepreneurs of the future.
We remain committed to our Members and customers, and we will continue to do our part to support the health and well-being of the communities we serve. This summer, I encourage you to explore Manitoba’s backyard. Local businesses need us now more than ever.
