We’re excited to share that CAA SCO’s Government and Community Relations (GCR) team won the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) 2017 Road Safety Achievement Award in the category of Corporate Leadership in Road Safety.
“We are proud and honoured to receive this provincial award,” says Teresa Di Felice, associate vice president of GCR. “Our work on traffic road safety initiatives continues to make a significant difference to the lives of our members and drivers across Ontario. Safety is a priority for us and we will continue to work with our government, community and police stakeholders on these important initiatives.”
The Road Safety Achievement Awards were established in 1996 by the MTO to recognize the exceptional achievements and commitment to excellence of individuals, community groups and organizations in promoting road safety at the community and provincial level.
The team works on numerous programs and initiatives each year that directly impact road users across Ontario. From issues at Queen’s Park, and within municipalities, to traffic safety, consumer protection and road infrastructure, the team continues to build on its foundation of advocating for members.
Their collaborative approach – with MTO and many other road safety partners – can be seen in programs and initiatives such as school zone safety, distracted driving, impaired driving and cycling safety.
This isn’t the first time the team has been recognized either! They won this prestigious award back in 2010, and were recognized in 2012 for their ongoing commitment towards making Ontario’s roads with the MTO award for Road User Safety Partnerships.
