Smart travellers know about the benefits of having good travel insurance and how it protects you in the event of unexpected medical emergencies, travel advisories, cancelled or missed flights and more.

But what if you wanted to cancel you trip before you even took off … just because you suddenly didn’t feel 100% comfortable travelling? Would your travel insurance cover you? If you had purchased Trip Cancellation and Interruption Insurance or any of the Vacation Package Plans from CAA Travel Insurance1 within 72 hours of booking your trip, then yes, you would be covered.

Cancel for any other reason up to three hours before departure.

Suppose on the day you’re scheduled to leave for your dream vacation, you’re just feeling unsettled about going. The airport taxi is on its way and you can’t bring yourself to walk out the front door. What then? With CAA Travel Insurance in place, you can use your Cancel for Any Other Reason benefit and receive a refund up to 50% of what you spent. Better yet, if you have this coverage and booked your trip with CAA Travel, you would get back up to 75%!

Book confidently now, knowing that you can cancel later.

Imagine you see a great flight or vacation deal to your dream destination. With CAA’s Cancel for Any Other Reason benefit, you can claim your seat or book your getaway now and change your mind right up to three hours before you’re scheduled to leave, on your departure day.

Relying on your credit card travel insurance? It may not adequately cover you.

Some credit cards include travel insurance coverage as a benefit for using them to pay for travel. Buyer beware, though: sometimes that travel insurance doesn’t cover the entire cost of your trip. Not only that, your credit card likely doesn’t have a Cancel for Any Other Reason benefit. So be sure to review your credit card policy to see what it includes. Not sure? Download our credit card checklist to ensure you have adequate coverage. Or, talk to one of CAA Travel Consultants at your local CAA Store.

Members save 10%2 on CAA Travel Insurance.

With all that you’ve invested in your trip, travel insurance makes perfect sense. Especially given that Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) may not cover you for any out-of-country medical expenses.

In fact, OHIP strongly recommends purchasing supplementary travel insurance coverage while travelling within Canada or internationally. So the question becomes which travel insurance provider to buy it from. With its Cancel for Any Other Reason benefit, CAA Travel Insurance is a great option. And while you don’t have to be a CAA Member to purchase it, CAA Members do save 10% on it, so that’s another reason to consider it.

The Cancel For Any Other Reason benefit that comes with CAA's Trip Cancellation and Interruption and Vacation Package Plans means you can book your beach getaway, action-packed adventure, or even your trip across Canada confidently … knowing that you can always cancel if you prefer to stay home!
